CIAO FRIENDS//writing this post from the Chicago O'hare New York's JFK Airport. We are so happy to be heading to Italy. Our layover in Chicago went super quick, so now we are in NY waiting to take off!
I had mentioned on my post earlier this week that I was so excited to work on packing and have takeout with hubs...well change of plans! We had take out but we didn't pack a single thing!

Tyler was joking with me that it's "so like me" to be not packed, not have an itinerary planned and to just wing it. Laughable, its actually nothing like me at all! We have just been so busy lately that I have not had any time to focus on getting things prepared for our trip.

So last night we stayed up almost all night to do laundry, pack and get ready to go! Thought I would share some of my best tips and tricks for traveling and packing at the last minute.
Airport Necessities// cute passport holders, crossbody and laptop!

Even if you are leaving in less than 12 hours, it's important to get organized! I love to make lists, and actually think about what I am going to need on a trip. This time I didn't have time for the lists, but I did actually sit down for a few minutes to look at the weather and decide what I might need.  It's so easy to just throw in what you think you might need, and not plan for what's to come! I saw a funny meme that was like "wears the same sweater and pants for 10 days, goes on a weekend trip and packs 23 tops and 10 pairs of jeans" It is SO EASY to do that, so this is how I avoid packing my entire closet :)

I pull out everything from my closet that I am thinking I may want to wear/bring with me on a trip
Then I move it to my office/bedroom and hang it all on my clothing rack// you can find the IKEA hack for that HERE

Next, I look to see what doesn't coordinate with anything else, like I love this but it doesn't match any of the pants I planned on taking and requires shoes I wasn't planning on bringing. Unless you have unlimited space, you have to pack smart!  That brings me to my next tip, use packing cubes to store your clothing.

My sister traveled the world for 9 months doing mission work, and lived out of one bag the entire time- we learned all about packing smart when she left, and discovered THESE compression cubes. I also had a girfriend gift me those cute SHOE bags, and another friend gift me that cute LUGGAGE tag! It is important to look cute, too :)

Once you have pulled everything you want to take together, try things on! I know this takes time, but so many times I think something is going to be flawless in my head, and when I put it on I'm simply not feeling it... It is silly to waste valuable space for something you don't even end up wearing!

Tyler and I are actually trying something new this trip, despite getting new cute luggage (pictured above) we are going a different route. Last Summer we visited Europe //brief recap HERE and both packed in a large rolling suitcase. It sounds great in theory, but in all actuality it was a disaster! I broke the handle off my luggage in Germany, literally our first stop, and swore I would never do that again!
We are traveling mostly by train, and found THESE Patagonia bags that can convert from duffel to backpack in seconds! This makes getting on and off the train so much easier, and I am excited to try them. Mine weighed in at 39 pounds this morning- I M P R E S S I VE considering its loaded with boots, dresses, sweaters and a winter coat! I will let yall know thoughts in a recap later!

I hope these few tips and tricks help you pack on your next trip. It's always a little overwhelming at first, but stay focused and you will get there!

Tyler and I are taking the red eye from JFK to Frankfurt, then we head to Rome! I will be busy reading my books and researching how to spend our time while we are there on the flights over... better late than never right?! I will do my best to update as we go, but I promise fun recaps for each city will be coming to you once we are back home :)

My V A L E N T I N E

To my favorite person in the world, I am so lucky to call you my Valentine!
This is one of my favorite pictures from our wedding. Our wedding exit was filled with sprinkles and lots of love! I love the way our photographer captured this moment, you can truly see how happy we are. Thankfully its only getting better over the years, we are going to celebrate 10 years of being mostly together this fall! How is that possible?

This week Tyler and I are celebrating Valentines together in lots of fun ways! Last night we went downtown to a local theater to see an old black and white film, today he took me to lunch and tonight we came home to start packing for our trip to Italy and doing what we L O V E the most- getting take out!
The weather has been cold and rainy this week, so we were excited to enjoy a fun date night last night. We went to the Ron Robinson Theater downtown to see My Girl Friday. A black and white movie from the 1940's. The theater is newer, and it was so nice! You had to walk down this cute brick alley with string lights to get to the show, and it was adorable- If you are local, you have to check it out!
Today is always a fun day to be in the office, everyone brings treats and has fun together! I baked homemade chocolate chip cookies, and brought them for all my friends. I love any reason to celebrate, and love candy even more- so I am totally in on the Valentines office festivities! My sweetheart sent me roses today, and I always get so excited when the Lobby calls to say I have a delivery waiting on me. Tyler is so thoughtful and sweet, I truly am lucky to be in love with him.

We grabbed lunch today at a local favorite - A little lunch date is always fun! Once we finished eating Tyler had the idea to get a treat, so we had a cinnamon roll with cream cheese icing....omg
Look how cute he is with that cinnamon roll

Tonight we are doing what we do best, just hanging out spending time together!! Tyler sent me to get a fresh manicure after work and now we are home together with takeout :) We laughed today that we really need to get going on all of our packing! Nothing has been packed, all the laundry still needs to be completed but I know we will get it together!

Hope yall have the best week and a Happy Valentine's Day

The Barnett's have a V E R Y exciting announcement
Twin King Charles Cavaliers will be coming home with us next month. We are so excited to have found our perfect puppies, and cannot wait for them to make the journey from Corpus Christi, TX to Arkansas. We spent hours, days even weeks researching to find a breed that was right for us...and we are just so smitten.
Beaux & Milly will be making their debut before too long, so if anyone has great recommendations for new puppy parents let us know! This will be our first go at being puppy parents together, and we are so excited!
Beaux is a little Blenhein boy and Milly is a tri-color girl

We have been working on timing for the new pups, and we will be bringing them home at 9-10 weeks and after we return from our trip to Italy. Which brings me to Italy, we leave next week. It seems like just yesterday I was writing this POST about booking our trip! We are set to leave a week from today, and travel to Rome, Siena, Florence and Milan. We have decided to take a train from Milan to Switzerland to explore there for a day as well.

Our trip planning started off with a bang, and now I have been so busy traveling I am going to be trying to catch up on everything I don't have planed for the next week. I am so excited to share our trip details for you while we are away! I love reading travel posts, so I will do my best to save all the details for yall :)

This week I spent in New York for market. Monday and Tuesday were great in the city, no problems getting around or getting to appointments at all- then Wednesday came. I decided all I could do was laugh... I woke up to snow, then freezing rain, then rain. It was a treat to say the least!
February is an off time to visit the city though, so getting cars and typical "waits" you have to endure do not exist right now. You can easily get taxis, head to a restaurant, or pop in for a coffee without the typical wait. I am hoping for the same luck when we visit Italy!

Here are some fun pics of my trip this week//
How fun is this chair?! This is in one of the buildings I visit for an appointment. You can shop my sweater from this POST and my favorite OTK boots from this POST
PS- I will never get over a sunset like this with a view like that
On Tuesday I wore the cutest jumpsuit, but failed to get a picture in it. I was so busy that day I couldn't even pause, but I will get the information for you soon :)
I stopped in Henri Bendel on Tuesday night and picked up a new cosmetic case. I love their signature brown and white stripe!
On Wednesday in the messy weather I even had time to stop by the post to drop off a letter to my bestie back home. Excuse the messy bun and sleet I am standing in!

So now what I am sure you have all been waiting for...
Everyone meet
 M I L L Y + B E A U X
They seem to be very naughty, and they are growing like a weed! I speak to our breeder at least 3-4 times a week and she is constantly sending me pictures and videos! We are so excited to have a brother and sister that can always have each other and play together. I promise for more PUPDATES soon!

Have a great weekend

Who doesn't dream of sipping tea in the prettiest floral dress? I am so in love with this cute dress, and I am thinking it would be perfect for a little date night, party, bridal shower or night out with the girls.

This past week was so busy at work. This was the last week of our fiscal year, so I was busy working and also getting things prepped for market! I woke up Thursday to find I had a terrible allergic reaction. Tyler and I still do not know what caused it, but it caused me to break out in hives everywhere and my throat was very tight. Thankfully I am on the mend, and my hives have subsided... for now ;) I had planned to visit home this weekend to see my parents, grandma and also see my brothers homecoming basketball game. Praises because I was still able to go, and enjoy time with my family. My little brother is a senior in high school and his girlfriend was crowned homecoming queen. It was so cute to see them together on the court, and I also caught a great game!

Mom and I planned a girls trip for Saturday- we started by going to the cutest tea shop in Fort Smith. Savoy Tea is so dreamy, we both ordered scones and treated ourself to a nice cup of tea. I love getting to catch up and spend time with just mom. After our tea, we headed up to NWA to go shopping and visit all of our favorite places. We went and visited local boutiques, shopped at the mall and ate all the yummy favorites. Fayetteville holds a special place in my heart, it's where I went to college, met all my girlfriends and even my hubby! I love to go back any chance I can get and spending time with mom up there is always icing on the cake.

My new favorite dress is below, I love the floral print and the cute neckline detail. Also, the hemline is super flattering flowing out on the sides. I got it awhile back, but it is now back in stock and linked below!
The back wall of this tea shop is filled with tins of their fabulous tea- if you are in the Fort Smith area this is a must!
Dress is from IMPRESSIONS
Here is a link to SAVOY TEA my new favorite is Queens Garden

Tomorrow morning I wake up and fly to New York for market! I am praying for good weather, and looking forward to a great trip. If any of you have fun suggestions for NYC let me know. I love visiting and am always trying to see something new//but don't worry I still visit all my favorites!

Hope your Super Bowl Sunday was a success! I spent mine unpacking and repacking:)
